Thankfully, there are many more choices now for those of us that want, or need, to use fragrance-free laundry products.

The benefits aren’t just for those of us that have fragrance issues. A fragrance-free product often means less potentially harmful ingredients - better for both you and the planet.

Even if you don’t suffer extreme dermatological or respiratory reactions, we can become sensitive over time. Washing your clothes, towels and bedding in fragrance-free detergent will help reduce the chances of sensitivities increasing, not only for you, but those that you live with and any guests you host.

We must also not forget the simple fact that if you are fortunate enough to tolerate fragrance, your favourite perfume will be at the fore as it won’t be battling with strong laundry scents. You will only need a tiny spritz to enjoy your Eau de Parfum, which as many are so very pricey these days, it will undoubtedly save you money in the long run! So here are my favourites!

Best supermarket detergent:

Marks & Spencer Sensitive Non-Bio

Yes, this may seem the higher end of the High Street offerings, but they are the only 'supermarket' I know of that are currently offering a fragrance-free laundry option. Both powder and liquid, they’re a great option if you like to shop in-store while picking up other M&S treats. Hats off to them for leading the way!

Best concentrated liquid detergent:

The OG. This Manchester based brand launched back in the 1980s and can be found in most supermarkets. Their concentrated liquid detergent has minimal carton packaging and it works.

Best laundry powder:

This has also been around for a while now and has been a consistently good option for those that wish to use a powder rather than a liquid or sheet detergent. Ecover Zero originally came to be in order to reduce their impact on the environment and in doing so have produced a range of products that are kind to us too!

Best detergent sheets:

There are a lot to choose from now and they are great not only for use at home, but are brilliant for taking on your travels as they dissolve very well indeed in a holiday apartment sink! Thanks to the envelope-style cardboard packaging, it’s also nice to not always be using plastic or big bulky cardboard products.

I like The Lab Co. To be honest, there isn’t much difference between the sheet options – I’ve tried most of them - but the clean branding and packaging design of The Lab Co. makes me feel normal…and anyone that has to live fragrance-free will know…it’s nice to feel like you’re using just a regular old product from a regular old manufacturer!

As always, do check the ingredients lists before purchasing any products, as manufacturers can be a bit sneaky in changing thing up. All newsletters and blogs contain affiliate links where available and all it means is I earn a tiny bit of commission at no additional cost to you if you purchase by clicking the link. This helps a little towards all the time I spend peering at and cross checking of ingredients lists that I do, along with reading rather lengthy scientific

research articles on fragrance allergies!
