my story

Hi, I’m Zilla, and I’ve been living with sensitive skin and contact allergies for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I’ve dealt with occasional flare-ups - usually as a result of using a skin product with an unknown allergen - that would be quickly calmed by Hydrocortisone steroid cream.

Unfortunately, what started as a manageable issue has escalated over the past five years and I now face the challenge of airborne allergens triggering skin reactions, making my eyelids swell and blister and my tongue go numb!

Like many others, I turned to my GP for help, but the support and knowledge was limited, and I was prescribed increasingly strong steroid creams which only calmed the indvidual flare ups and caused permanent damage to the skin.

It wasn’t until I sought a second opinion that I was prescribed Tacrolimus (Protopic), which, while helpful in calming things down and making me slightly less susceptible, still left me searching for a healthier and less medication-reliant solution.

Unfortunately, referrals to allergy, immunology, and dermatology specialists took months, and again the knowledge and help was limited. I was left to figure it out on my own.

Avoiding airborne fragrances and creating a 'calm' home environment - giving your skin barrier less to worry about - is key to preventing flare-ups. Along with adopting a healthy lifestyle that minimises inflammation and maximises the calm within.

Through trial, error, and lots of research, I’ve learned a great deal about managing sensitive skin and allergy triggers. Now, I’m sharing my experience and insights to help others like me navigate the challenges.

Whether you’re looking for product recommendations, research-backed lifestyle advice, or just a place to connect, you’ll find it here. Together, we can make this journey a little easier.
